Service Explanations and Examples
Darning
Darning is going to feel the most natural and is the least noticeable, this is when we re-weave the fabric worn away. It will be a little stiffer until it is worn in.
Side-note: If you are looking to repair a non-denim item, a patch might be a better option. If you are looking to repair pants with some stretch, a patch is probably a better option.
Patching
Patching is when we put another piece of fabric in behind the hole and reinforce with stitching over it. It’s not always as noticeable as the example photo, just depends on the hole. This option is great and re enforces the area really well, but it will feel a little thicker.
Adding decorative stitching
This is a great way to embrace the wear and tear of your loved clothing. One of our favorite types of decorative stitching is a Japanese style called “Sashiko.” But we are able to do really any design you would like (within reason)
Hem
There are three options for hemming your pants, New Hem, Keeping the Original Hem, Raw Hem.
New Hem: this is when we cut off the old hem, discard of the extra fabric, fold over the fresh cut and hem
Keeping the Original Hem: this is when we take off the original hem, shorten the pant to the desired length and reattach the original hem. This is best if you would like to keep the fading at the end of the pants. This option is not ideal if you like to cuff your pants.
Raw Hem: this is when we cut the jeans to the desired length, secure the seams running up and down the sides of the legs and distress the edges to create a frayed look
The best way to figure out what repair option is best for you, is to send a photo of the damaged item.
