Darning

Darning is when we re-weave the fabric worn away, is going to feel the most natural and is the least noticeable. It will be a little stiffer until it is worn in.

Side-note: This technique works best with denim that has very little stretch to it. If you are looking to repair a non-denim item, a patch might be a better option. If you are looking to repair pants with some stretch, a patch is probably a better option.

Patching: Jeans

Patching is when we put another piece of fabric in behind the hole and reinforce with stitching over it. It’s not very noticeable, but it can depends on the denim and the damage. This option is great and re-enforces the area really well, but it will feel a little thicker.

Patching: Clothing

Patching other types of clothing is very similar to patching jeans, we put another piece of fabric behind or on top of the hole and reinforce with stitching over it or around the damage. This repair has a wide range of options depending on your person preference.

Patching: With decorative stitching

A great addition to a patch is to add decorative stitching. This is a way to embrace the wear and tear of your loved clothing. One of our favorite types of decorative stitching is a Japanese style called “Sashiko.” But we are able to do really any design you would like (within reason)

Hemming

There are three options for hemming your pants, New Hem, Keeping the Original Hem, Raw Hem.

  • New Hem: this is when we cut off the old hem, discard of the extra fabric, fold over the fresh cut and hem

  • Keeping the Original Hem: this is when we take off the original hem, shorten the pant to the desired length and reattach the original hem. This is best if you would like to keep the fading at the end of the pants. This option is not ideal if you like to cuff your pants.

  • Raw Hem: this is when we cut the jeans to the desired length, secure the seams running up and down the sides of the legs and distress the edges to create a frayed look

The best way to figure out what repair option is best for you, is to send a photo of the damaged item.
